ICHA organizes the annual Tiny Feet, Big Steps - Advancing Care of Critically Ill and Premature Babies in Africa
This conference is in its 5th year in Arusha, Tanzania and is a 6 day annual event with a focus on acquisition of practical, evidence - based, innovative skills for the care of critically ill and premature infants in an African or low-income neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) setting.
This conference is in its 5th year in Arusha, Tanzania and is a 6 day annual event with a focus on acquisition of practical, evidence - based, innovative skills for the care of critically ill and premature infants in an African or low-income neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) setting.
Our approach is a focus on teaching low-technology, low-cost solutions to the challenges of infant thermoregulation, respiratory support, neonatal feeding and nutrition and infection control / prevention measures.
Our conference is a platform for NICU teams to exchange innovations, quality improvement initiatives and to network with others across the globe.
2024 Conference Statistics:
- 210 nurses and doctors representing 22 African and non-African countries
- 90 unique lectures and skills workshops over 6 days
- A global team of instructors comprised of 50 physicians, NICU nurses and allied health professionals from 40 academic institutions across 14 countries
- 110 hospitals / institutions in attendance
